Born on June 28th, 1985, Ataru Nakmura is a well-known name in the Japanese music industry. She is well known as a pop singer, songwriter, and actress.

Early Life

Ataru Nakmura was born in Tokyo and started studying music at a very young age. She started to teach herself to play the piano at a meager age of 10 and started to write her own songs when she was 15.

Ataru Nakmura’s life can be summarized in a period of few time frames. These are:


Ataru, in 2006, switched to a major label, the well renowned Avex Trax. The single was released on her birthday and received very little attention. The song was written after her boyfriend cheated on her and it was written from her boyfriend’s point of view.

During the same time frame, Ataru released the second single, Tomodachi no Uta. The song received a lot of attention and rose to popularity within no time. The single was placed at number 150 on the Oricon charts.

Ataru had minor success all through this time until she announced herself as a transgender female. Following that, her singles rose to popularity and her singles increased in fame as well.

Ataru’s third single was Watashi no Naka no Li Onna, which again rose to popularity and entered the charts at number 39. She finally came up with her first album, the Ten Made Todoke, which was released on 1st January 2007.

Late 2007-2008

Nakmura released her second album on 5th December 2007. The album’s first single Ringo Uri premiered on 27th June 2007 and gained massive attention amongst the masses. The number peaked at number 30 f the Oricon charts. Moreover, their second single was Hadaka Denkyu, which premiered on 21st November.

During the late 2007-2008, she even released Tori No Mure, which was the album’s third single and her 7th overall.

The 2009 era

The 2009 era was the Ashita Wa Haremasu You Ni Era. During this era, her well known Kaze Tachinu debuted on July 9th, 2008. The song was used as a theme song for GeGeGe no Kitaro Sennen Noroi Uta. The song received a lot of attraction and attention as it appeared at the AP Bank Fes 208, a musical festival.

Moreover, she even released a song called Kotonakare Shugi, which was a rock song produced by Kameda Seiji on December 17th, 2008.

She also wrote a song called Hare Butai for Jero, who was Japan’s first black singer.

2010- Shonen Shojo Era

During the 2010 era, Ataru Nakmura released her first single Lede Shoujo after changing her management from Avex Trax. The single debuted at number 90 on the Oricon charts and sold 796 copies in the first week.

Her album later received the Japan Record Award even though the album was not really a commercial hit.

Personal Life

Ataru Nakmura was assigned male at birth as she struggled with issues of gender identity. This, however, is proof and full proof of the fact as to who Ataru essentially was.

Ataru has a brilliant musical style. She is notable for two different styles namely modern rock pop and enka inspired sound. Her singles have altered between two styles and have always managed to gain the attention of the masses
